Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 May 2026
Property Tax Tools ("we", "us", "our") is based in Western Australia and provides calculators, spreadsheet products, email follow-up, and support through propertytaxtools.com.au. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
The short version: you can use the free calculators without creating an account. We collect personal information only where it is needed to send requested emails, generate an emailed report, deliver a purchase, respond to support, measure site performance, or protect the service.
What we collect and why
| Activity | Information | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary calculator use | Numbers and assumptions you enter into the calculator interface. | To show estimates in your browser. For ordinary calculator use, these inputs stay on the page and are not stored by us. |
| Email signup | Email address, source page, optional interest tag, signup date, nurture sequence status, unsubscribe status, and suppression status. | To send the requested checklist, calculator follow-up, update notes, spreadsheet tips, and unsubscribe/suppression records. |
| Emailed or PDF reports | Email address, source page, and any calculator inputs a report feature asks to include. | To generate and send the requested report. We do not use those inputs to decide whether you qualify for a tax treatment, loan, deduction, concession, or product. |
| Purchases | Payhip order details we receive, such as email, product, tier, price, transaction ID, sale/refund status, and delivery records. | To deliver digital products, provide access recovery, handle support/refunds, keep business records, and maintain product entitlements. |
| Access recovery | Purchase email, requested product/tier, request time, and rate-limit metadata. | To look up an active entitlement and send a fresh secure access link if one exists. |
| Contact and support | Name, email address, message content, replies, and support context you provide. | To respond to enquiries, investigate issues, and keep a record of support handling. |
| Analytics, checkout attribution, and security | Pages visited, events, device/browser data, approximate location, client/session identifiers, product/tier/source/page path, checkout attempt IDs, IP-derived matching data, and server request metadata. | To understand performance, measure checkout outcomes, troubleshoot delivery, prevent abuse, rate-limit forms, and improve the site. |
Collection notices
We collect personal information directly from you when you submit an email form, request a report, buy through Payhip, request spreadsheet access, or contact support. We may also receive purchase and refund information from Payhip and technical information from hosting, analytics, email, and database providers.
If you do not provide the requested information, you can still use the public calculators, but we may not be able to email follow-up, generate a report, deliver a purchase, recover access, respond to support, or investigate a transaction.
Calculator inputs and reports
Most calculator interactions happen in your browser. If a feature asks whether you want an emailed or PDF report, the calculator inputs needed for that report may be sent to our API so the report can be generated and emailed. Those values are not stored as a standalone calculator profile in our subscriber database, but they may exist in the email, PDF attachment, delivery logs, or support messages if you send them to us.
Calculator outputs are general information and estimates only. We do not review your inputs for suitability and we do not make tax, legal, lending, financial, employment, or investment decisions about you.
Analytics, cookies, and checkout attribution
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand site usage and improve calculators, guides, and product pages. GA4 may use first-party cookies and identifiers to distinguish visits and produce aggregated reporting about pages, events, device type, browser, and approximate location. Google may process analytics data on servers around the world.
For spreadsheet checkout measurement, we may temporarily store product/tier/source/page path context and an IP-derived checkout match for up to 2 days. We also keep a small checkout diagnostic sample for up to 30 days so we can confirm purchase and delivery tracking is working. We do not use advertising trackers or sell personal information to third-party marketers.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. For more information, see Google's privacy policy.

Email communications
If you subscribe or request an emailed checklist/report, we may send calculator follow-up, practical tax-time updates, spreadsheet update notes, and related product emails that match the notice shown at collection. Every marketing or nurture email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us to opt out.
Opt-out requests are free. We aim to apply email unsubscribes immediately for digital communications and, in any event, within a reasonable period. We keep suppression records so we do not re-add unsubscribed or bounced addresses. We may still send transactional or service emails needed for purchases, access recovery, refunds, legal notices, or support.
We do not sell, rent, or disclose our email list so another organisation can market its own products to you. If you ask us for the source of personal information used for direct marketing, we will tell you unless it is impracticable or unreasonable to do so. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
Disclosure and overseas processing
We disclose personal information only where needed for the purposes above, including to service providers, payment and delivery providers, professional advisers, regulators, courts, or law enforcement where required or authorised by law. Before using a provider that may handle personal information outside Australia, we consider the provider's published privacy, security, and contractual terms.
Our providers and their sub-processors may store or process personal information outside Australia. Based on provider disclosures available at the date above, likely locations include the United States, United Kingdom, European Economic Area, and other countries where those providers or their infrastructure providers operate. Provider countries and sub-processors can change, so we review this section when we add or materially change a provider.
- Resend - email delivery for welcome, nurture, unsubscribe, support, and delivery messages. Resend states that data may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
- Payhip - checkout, payment processing, order records, receipts, and purchase/refund webhooks. Payhip and its payment processors may process data in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, and other locations described in Payhip's policy.
- Vercel - website and API hosting, request logs, and operational security. Vercel states that information may be processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where it operates.
- Upstash Redis - subscriber, entitlement, unsubscribe/suppression, rate-limit, and checkout-attribution storage. Data may be stored or processed in cloud regions and provider locations outside Australia.
- Zoho Mail - support mailbox and related correspondence. Zoho states that data may be processed in the United States, European Economic Area, and other countries where Zoho operates.
- Google Analytics - usage analytics, event measurement, and aggregated reporting. Google states that information may be processed on servers around the world.
Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Subscriber records are kept until removed, unsubscribed, suppressed, or deleted, although unsubscribe and suppression records may be retained to honour opt-out requests. Purchase and delivery records are kept as needed for product access, refunds, accounting, tax, support, audit, and consumer guarantee purposes.
Checkout attribution context is designed to be short-lived and usually expires within 2 days. Limited checkout diagnostic samples expire after up to 30 days. Server, email, and analytics providers may keep logs under their own retention settings and policies.
Automated decisions, AI, and reports
As at the date of this policy, our calculators use deterministic formulas or documented estimate models to show general-information outputs from values you enter. We do not arrange for a computer program or AI system to use your personal information to make a decision that could reasonably be expected to significantly affect your rights or interests.
We do not approve, refuse, rank, or assess your eligibility for tax claims, government concessions, loans, employment outcomes, insurance, refunds, or financial products. If we add an AI feature or personalised report flow that uses personal information in a materially different way, we will update this policy and the relevant collection notice before using that information for the new purpose.
Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, misuse, interference, loss, modification, or disclosure. Our website uses HTTPS encryption, access to provider systems is limited to operational need, and our APIs use origin checks and rate limits where relevant. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure.
Access, correction, deletion, and complaints
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Unsubscribe from marketing communications
- Request deletion or de-identification of your personal information where we no longer need it and we are not required to retain it
To make a privacy request or complaint, email support@propertytaxtools.com.au . We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Please include enough detail for us to understand the issue, the email address involved, and the outcome you are seeking.
We aim to acknowledge and respond to privacy complaints within a reasonable period, usually within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, or we have not responded within a reasonable time, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy when our data flows, providers, legal obligations, or product features change. The version published on this page is the current version.
